How it all began
Rohan met Elaine on a Friday summer evening in New York City. He had a sense she was different when instead of the “Nice to meet you, when are you free?” banter that usually precedes a first date, her message was a clear order: “Meet me at 7pm.” How could he refuse? 🫡
Their connection grew, slowly at first, then quickly. They were each surprised to find another person who shared their values, outlook on life, and artistic taste so completely and deeply. Alignment on the big things led to joy in the little moments – cooking together, bike rides through Central Park, keeping bonsai alive, shared love of a new Dyson vacuum, and creative sojourns to get-aways like Mexico City and Home Depot.
Luckily for Rohan, he followed Elaine’s first date instructions, and now gets to look forward to a life spent building and growing together.
From Rohan
From Elaine
When Elaine’s younger sister Debby came to visit from China, she encouraged Elaine to take advantage of the built-in babysitting and find a date for the next evening. On a rainy night in July, Elaine decided to take the chance — never imagining she might meet her future husband.
From the moment they met, she felt an easy connection with Rohan. She knew right away that even if nothing romantic came of it, they would at least become good friends. Naturally thoughtful and a bit skeptical, Elaine took her time trusting her feelings and let the relationship unfold at its own pace.
During a transition between jobs, Rohan was a steady and supportive presence. While he worked, Elaine spent her days at his apartment painting, studying, and reading — sharing quiet moments that slowly built something deeper. It was in that season of calm and closeness that she began to lower her guard and let her feelings truly grow.
And the rest is history
